The huge mistake that local businesses are making with websites is that they are spending thousands of dollars on a beautiful site, thinking that customers will scroll through every page and then come and buy.
People come to businesses because they have a problem they want to solve. It may be a stopped- up sewer line, a need for a new car, an attorney, or anything that solves a problem that they have now. It’s highly unlikely that they are going to take the time to look through a site.
If they don’t have someone, they will search in Google, peruse the reviews, and go. Google is actually serving up local results instead of “link listings” to boost their own advertising revenue. Their goal is for a “click free” search for local.
What does that mean for your business? It means customers have an urgent enough need or desire that they are going straight from a click to your door.
Google My Business, despite it’s problems will generate more leads for your business than a website by itself.
